Carparktivity©

We don't often undertake research on this site but one of our founding Professors has a theory, which he has considered over a number of years and which he is calling Pottinger's Theory of Carparktivity© [pronounced car-park-tivity].

The Pottinger's Theory reads as follows:

In any public car park:

  • regardless of the day of the week; or

  • the time of day; or

  • the size of car park (regardless of the number of spaces available when empty, or the number of spaces currently occupied or unoccupied on your arrival); and

  • no matter where you park your vehicle on arrival;

  • when you return to your vehicle to leave the car park, another vehicle will be in the process of parking in, or leaving, a space directly adjacent to yours, be that in front, behind or to either side.

We asked for your assistance in testing the Theory during 2004/05. A massive 80% of those responding said that the Theory worked for them.
Our Chairman & Chief Executive has, quite recently, twice experienced double Carparktivity - cars on either side of his leaving at the same time!

Polling is now open again so record your vote below, after which you'll see a summary of the result so far:
